Minnesota Third Congressional District candidate Dean Phillips (DFL) took his campaign vehicle— the Government Repair Truck— to campaign at Caribou coffee. The truck is a 1960 International Metro Van in honor or the last time a Democrat was elected to Congress from Minnesota’s Third District.
Even though the election is more than year away, Phillips is campaigning aggressively against incumbent Rep. Erik Paulsen (R). Phillips will stop wherever voters are willing to talk to him and even serves them coffee from his truck. He promises some more imaginative campaign locations as the weather gets colder. He has stirred up a lot of interest in the race that has been almost defaulted to the Republicans since 1960.
Paulsen, a Trump supporter, is seen to be vulnerable in the blue leaning district. Hillary Clinton carried the district in 2016.
